Teaching Yoga with a Fascial Focus

Part Three: Spine, Rib Cage and Diaphragm

with Carrie Gaynor

Join us for this 3 day immersion in the new frontier of fascia and how it blends beautifully with the old world of yoga.  Experience fascia both as a concept and within your own body.  TYFF Part 3 is a stand alone course that focuses on mobility and self awareness of the spine, ribcage and diaphragm through experiential fascial anatomy carried through asana and pranayama.  Understanding the body in this way allows expansion of self awareness and breath, eases chronic imbalances and deepens the yoga experience.  Learn to guide and strengthen your students’ experience via specific functional cuing and flow sequences designed for the spine, ribcage and diaphragm.  Transform your own health and that of your students with this powerful knowledge.

Course Objectives:

  •  Understand the unique characteristics and importance of fascia to yoga and

           receive the latest research updates.

  •  Explore fascia as a sensory organ through regional anatomy, neurology and

           specific movement flows.

  •  Embody selected concepts of Fascial Fitness and Fascial Stretch Therapy to

enhance TriYoga and Hand Mudra Flows.

  •   Recognize and relieve dysfunctional breathing patterns via non-traditional asana

sequences inspired by yoga giants Victor van Kooten and Angela Farmer.
